Internet sites are critical for a customer, as turnover is generated. However, high availability is not required.

Conventional Solution

A firewall protects two servers, each hosting webserver and database applications distributed on virtual machnies. A cold standby system is available on the other system, enabling both applications to run on one server in the event of a hardware failure.

Virtual Data Center (VDC) Solution

A virtual firewall protects single virtual machines hosting webserver and database applications. All virtual systems are interconnected by an internal LAN. Since virtual servers within a virtual data center surrounding are not dependent on specific hardware, a cold-standby system is not required.
